Developmental Editing
Working with authors on the fundamental building blocks of their story. I offer feedback on how to structure the narrative, tighten the pacing, strengthen character arcs, and raise stakes. For this service I provide in-line edits and comments on the manuscript (through Track Changes) and a document of big picture notes.
Line Editing & Polishing
For this service, I focus on the prose itself, point out repetitive or confusing lines and helping to deliver the story in a concise and effective way. This is for stories that don't need a lot of structural work, though I will still offer a write up about what is serving the story well and anything that may snag a reader.
Coaching
I offer book coaching and support for authors looking to dive into the publishing industry. Services include how to research agents, write query letters and synopses, and navigating the pros and cons of self-publishing vs. indie presses vs. traditional publishing.

It takes a lot to write a book, and often when you're starting out you don't even know what questions to ask. With only words on a page you're tasked with inventing worlds and people that don't exist and making a reader care about them.

This blog is a resource for anyone feeling stuck; an archive-in-progress of all the little tips and tricks I know about how to write a compelling story from the bottom up. It's the hub I wish I'd had when I was starting out.
